Ukrainian

M is now moored on the Trent and Mersey below `The Ukrainian` an old army camp that was used to house Ukrainian refugees in the last years of WWII.  The camp was built originally as a training establishment for bridge engineers and there are apparently some relics of that period nearby - we will explore tomorrow.

Below `The Ukranian`. V`s nose obscured to hide what she`s eating
We had intended to stop at Shardlow, a popular spot just off the river, but as expected it was full up. It wasn`t really a problem as the run down the Soar and Trent from Kegworth had gone well and we had plenty of day left to continue through the two locks between Sharldow Lock and our mooring spot.

On the Soar - Sue says she doesn`t know how anyone can sleep living on a river that floods so often.

Old launch - R.Soar

Radcliffe on Soar power station is visible all the way to Sawley

On stilts due to flooding, but fantastic - Sue says she could definately sleep here.  R.Soar

Past Sawley and the wide bit before Derwent mouth and Shardlow
A great looking boat - Tamar outside the marina at Shardlow. Trent & Mersey

Veiw from the top - looking back to Shardlow, lock full.
